Hi Nathan,

As we approach Christmas 2025, the Somali Bible Society wishes all of our supporters a very Merry Christmas! It’s a wonderful time just to reflect on the goodness of God. What a miracle of love it was for God to have entered our world as a member of the human race to save us from our sins and to transform us more and more into His own image. God is in the business of transforming lives. We are witnessing transformations taking place throughout the Somali Peninsula.

The Somali Bible Society (SBS) and their local church partners are now seeing 200+ Somali Muslims coming to Christ daily! More and more are turning away from Islam and turning to Christ in the Somali Peninsula. This movement of God is accelerating with thousands and thousands of Muslims coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Reports continue to flow to the SBS, telling of lives being changed dramatically! We are highlighting in this issue of Kingdom News five Somali Muslims that have been changed by Jesus through the ministry of the SBS and their local church partners.

There are a multitude of changed lives that could be reported on, but these five stories represent what God is doing all across the Somali Peninsula. All of the 200+ Somali Muslims coming to Christ daily have their own stories of their life-changing encounters with Jesus Christ.

As you read through the five stories of transformation, consider supporting the Good Samaritan Center (GSC), the artery through which all Somali Bible Society’s ministries will flow and the heartbeat of transformed lives!

TRANSFORMED LIVES

Transformed Life through SBS’s “Church on a Camel Back” Ministry

Mumin

An SBS evangelist, traveling with six camels, encountered Mumin, a 24-year-old Muslim camel herder searching for a she-camel he had lost. The evangelist helped locate the camel and then testified to Mumin, who listened patiently and eagerly.

Mumin joined a Bible study group with three other Muslim nomads. Within four months of the training, Mumin became a follower of the Lord.

Before turning to the Lord, Mumin struggled with substance abuse. In the midst of his addiction he had abandoned his wife and his two small children. Following his conversion and being discipled by the SBS evangelist, Mumin was healed from substance abuse and returned to his family. The evangelist witnessed Mumin’s joyful reunion with his family!

Transformed Life through SBS’s “Trauma” Ministry

Faarah, 59, has endured severe persecution since he became a Jesus-follower fifteen years ago. He faced beatings, detentions, and a number of attempts on his life. Faarah was denied employment, and his family suffered atrocities. This persecution took a toll on Faarah, and his mental health was deteriorating rapidly.

Faarah attended two SBS trauma healing sessions over a total of 20 days. Professionals, including pastors, mental health doctors, and counselors, provided needed care. Faarah’s mental health improved dramatically. Now he is experiencing a sense of well-being that he hasn't felt in the past ten years. Faraah will now be able to return to effective ministry.

Omar

Omar
Name changed & face blurred for security reasons

Omar, 51, an illiterate man from an agricultural background, sold goat meat, sugar, and flour to nomadic camel herders in southern Somalia. During the rainy season, these nomads settle in temporary camps. Omar encountered two SBS literacy trainers with their Camel Library. They helped Omar learn to read and write within three months in 2024.

Prior to learning to read and write, Omar often lost money because he couldn't remember how much each person owed him. Omar said now that he keeps a record of his sales his profits have increased significantly. In just 12 months Omar purchased land and built a home for himself, crediting his new literacy skills. Omar expressed his gratitude to the SBS Camel Library Team for empowering him. He was exposed to the Gospel by this team of SBS volunteers, bringing him closer to faith in Jesus Christ.

Transformed Life through SBS’s “Widows and Orphans” Ministry

Mumina had lost her husband in 2022 to radical Islamist violence because of his Christian faith. The loss of her husband caused her such financial hardship that she was unable to provide for her children. Mumina recently received four dairy cows from the Somali Bible Society. The Muslim seller of the cattle also donated two young calves to the widow. (The seller’s son was an evangelist who was killed for his faith in 2008).

The gift of the cows provided a living wage. She is earning enough money to support her children by selling milk. Mumina’s children have returned to school. Mumina and her family had been staying with a Muslim relative who pressured them to return to Islam. Now she was able to rent their own house. Mumina and her children are now living with dignity and have escaped much of the pressure to return to Islam.

Mahad

Mahad
Name changed & face blurred for security reasons

Mahad, a young college graduate and linguist from a prominent Somali family, discovered the SBS website and read all the books and articles within a year. As he studied these materials, he became convinced that Jesus was the Christ, the Savior of the world. He made a commitment to follow Jesus.

Before he became a Christ follower, Mahad had aspired to become the Head of his Regional State. Due to his political ambitions, he keeps a low profile. Previously, Mahad exploited the Somali clan system for his own selfish goals and hurt many people. Since becoming a disciple of Christ, Mahad has become a changed man. Mahad frequently apologizes to those he harmed. He now describes himself as “healthier and happier.” Muslims often ask him how he became a godly man.

GOOD SAMARITAN CENTER (GSC) BUILDING SITE

As of the beginning of November, we have received a total of $59,101 toward the $240,000 purchase price for the building site for the Good Samaritan Center. We have eight more months to raise the additional $180,899 (before the July 2026 deadline). The cost of each square foot of this building site is $58 USD.

Your contribution for one square foot or more of this land will help us make the GSC a reality. The existence of this ministry center will create a significant increase in capacity for the ministry of the Somali Bible Society, their local church partners, and the An-Nour University.

Although we are in need of some large donations at this point, donations of any size will be greatly appreciated.

The financial support for this ministry center is more important now than ever before. Check out the progress below and consider becoming a supporter.

PRAYER AND PRAISE

PRAYER REQUESTS

#1) Pray for SBS trainings taking place this month in the Somali Peninsula. These trainings are focusing on trauma healing and evangelism. Pray for the safety and security of the trainers and the trainees. Ask the Lord for a great harvest of souls to result because of these trainings.

#2) Pray for our Camel Library teams. We have more and more teams teaching nomadic people how to read and write in Somali. Pray for our trainers who are volunteering their time. Also pray for more donors to give to this creative ministry. We still need more teams to reach these illiterate people to both raise their living standards and share Christ.

#3) Pray for donors to give generously to the many SBS ministries. Trauma healing, evangelism, education, compassionate programs, and literacy efforts are bringing lasting transformation to Somalia and her people. Donors can select the ministry they would like to support by indicating project # found on the donation page.

#4) Pray for increased financial support for the Good Samaritan Center. We need large and small donations alike. Pray that God will move hearts of donors to make it possible to meet our purchase agreement on the building site that expires in July 2026. We are $180,000 short of our goal. This is a high-priority need!

PRAISE REPORTS

#1) We praise the Lord for finances made available through our donors to conduct both trauma healing and evangelism trainings last month continuing on to this month. Your donations are making a real difference in the Kingdom!

#2) We praise God that SBS and their local church partners are now seeing 200+ Somali Muslims coming to Christ daily. God’s movement in the Somali Peninsula is reaching a greater intensity.

#3) The Lord is to be praised for life transformations taking place in the Somali Peninsula. The five stories of transformations in this newsletter are just a sampling of changed lives taking place among Somali Muslims.

#4) We praise God for a very influential government official who came to Christ. This man is actively sharing Christ with other persons of great influence in Somalia.
