Equipping Christians Globally to Reach Muslims for Christ
The GSC will be the main campus of the An-Nour University. This institution plays a crucial role in equipping Christians with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively share their faith with Muslim populations. By providing theological training and evangelistic resources, An-Nour University aims to build a generation of Christian ambassadors capable of respectful and impactful witness in a predominantly Muslim context. For more information on this unique and specialized university, go to the An-Nour University website.
Equipping Evangelists, Pastors & Church Leaders in Somalia
The GSC will provide a venue for training and mobilizing evangelists, pastors, and church leaders to guide a movement of God in the Somali Peninsula. The SBS works closely with the local churches of all denominations, preparing leaders to make Christ-like disciples of Somali Muslims.
Bible Translation
The GSC will accommodate the Bible translation team of the Somali Bible Society. This team is dedicated to translating the Bible into Somali, ensuring that Scripture is accessible to the local community in their native language. Such translation efforts are essential in promoting understanding of Christian teachings and fostering a sense of spiritual connection among Somali believers.
Widows and Children-at-Risk Ministries
The GSC also commits to social outreach by offering training programs for underprivileged widows and their at-risk children. These women, often marginalized within society, will receive vocational training aimed at empowering them economically. Through income-generating projects, they are enabled to become self-sufficient and provide for their fatherless children. This initiative not only addresses immediate economic needs but also promotes social stability and dignity among vulnerable populations.
Literacy Training
The GSC will oversee a literacy training program benefiting the Somali population. This program aims to improve literacy rates by teaching individuals how to read and write in their mother tongue. Enhanced literacy skills are linked to increased likelihood of following Jesus, as educated individuals are more receptive to new spiritual teachings. Moreover, literacy reduces susceptibility to exploitation by unscrupulous individuals, thereby contributing to the overall well-being and safety of the community.
Taking the Gospel to Remote Populations by Camel
The GSC will provide an administrative center to coordinate a camel ministry that will take literacy trainers and evangelists to the illiterate people in remote locations. Camel herders and other isolated people learn how to read and write and are given opportunity to respond to the Gospel.
Multifunctional Community Center
The GSC will be equipped with a conference room designed to serve as a multifunctional community center. This facility will provide a space for community gatherings, dialogue, and collaboration. It is a venue where members of diverse backgrounds, including Muslims and Christians, can congregate to promote peace, mutual understanding, and communal harmony. Such interactions are vital in fostering social cohesion in a society often marked by religious and cultural divisions.
State-of-the-Art, Members-Only Library
The GSC will host a members-only library catering primarily to university students and faculty in Mogadishu. This facility will function as an intellectual and cultural beacon within the community, offering access to Christian literature, academic resources, and study spaces. Despite serving a predominantly Muslim population, the library aims to serve as a light of knowledge and hope, supporting educational advancement and fostering interfaith dialogue.
Income Stream for the Somali Bible Society and An-Nour University
The GSC plans to lease space to select Christian ministries. The rental income generated will provide a sustainable financial foundation for the Somali Bible Societyβs ongoing mission work. This strategic partnership not only ensures economic stability for the organization but also expands its capacity to carry out evangelistic, educational, and social programs across Somalia.
